Once Upon a Time’s San Diego Comic-Con panel definitely had people talking. When word broke that a lot of the main cast members were going to be leaving after season 6, the question was what’s next? The show ended with a cliffhanger that would change the entire dynamic of the show and the new trailer picks up there and begins by opening up a new book.
Henry’s now an adult (played by The Walking Dead’s Andrew J. West) and the tables from the pilot have turned. Now, he has a young girl calming to be his daughter showing up at his front door just like he did.
ABC described the new season as:
After six seasons, the residents of the enchanted forest enter Season 7 facing their greatest challenge yet as the Evil Queen, Captain Hook and Rumplestiltskin join forces with a grown-up Henry Mills and his daughter Lucy on an epic quest to bring hope to their world and ours. Along the way, new fairy tale characters and old search for true love, find adventure and take sides in the ongoing struggle of good against evil as classic tales are once again twisted and reimagined.
The SDCC panel included Co-creators Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, executive producer David H. Goodman, stars Lana Parrilla, Colin O’Donohue, Robert Carlyle, Andrew J. West, Dania Ramirez and Gabrielle Anwar. They all came prepared to show fans the new world full of villains and heroes that they can expect to see heading into season 7.
It was announced that Gabrielle Anwar will be taking on the villain role in the seventh season, playing Cinderella’s evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine. Mekia Cox will be playing Tiana from Princess and The Frog, and Rose Reynolds will be playing a new version of Alice from Alice In Wonderland.
While viewers wont be seeing as many usual faces as before, Horowitz gave them this little nugget of detail
“It’s our hope that we’ll be seeing a lot of them pop up from time to time during the season. This isn’t the end.”
They also announced that the official premiere date will be October 6, 2017, which will move the show to Fridays.
