Katherine Waterston Replaces Michelle Williams in Jonah Hill’s ‘Mid-90s’

Whilst Jonah Hill has already begun production on his directorial debut Mid-90s, it appears he’s had to make a casting adjustment to the film’s female lead. It has been reported that Fantastic Beasts actress Katherine Waterston will be stepping in for Michelle Williams, who has recently departed the project due to scheduling conflicts.

The film – also written by Hill – focuses on a young boy named Stevie (Sunny Suljic) as he navigates his way through his teenage years in Los Angeles in the 90s.

Waterston will star as his struggling co-dependent single mother who is forced to watch her son learn life lessons about drugs, class and abusive relationships.

Since starring as Shasta Fey Hepworth in 2014’s Inherent Vice, Waterston has swiftly become Hollywood’s newest IT girl. We last saw her in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant and we will see her next in Logan Lucky, The Current War (starring Benedict Cumberbatch) and returning as American witch Tina Goldstein in the untitled Fantastic Beasts sequel.

Mid-90s is yet to get an official release date.
