I have a confession to make. Clowns freak me out! I’ve never had any kind of horrifying clown experience, but from the time I was a little kid, I have always viewed them with fear. I feel anyone that has to apply that much makeup to appear happy must have darkness buried deep in their soul. Or maybe it’s the freakishly big mouth painted on their face. It makes them look as if they could swallow a child in a single gulp. Yikes!
Now bring on the likes of Pennywise and Twisty, they raise clowns to a whole new level of fright. Both will be back on screen in all their gruesome glory later this year. Stephen King’s It, featuring the infamous Pennywise, has been remade and is due to hit theaters this September. And today it was announced that Twisty the Clown will be back in action on the FX hit TV series, American Horror Story season 7. Twice the bone-chilling fun!
Who is scarier though? The legendary Pennywise, has been providing us with nightmares for decades. Who can walk past a storm drain without thinking a red balloon is gonna float past their face? It is not even Pennywise himself that actually frightens, it is the mere thought of his existence that sends chills up our spine. To this day, I never peer into a sink drain. Logically I know nothing is down there. But I say, why take that chance? Then we have Twisty the Clown, always ready to entertain his captive audience. Poor misunderstood Twisty, he only wanted to save children from their mean parents. I’m not quite sure if it’s the dirty costume or the prosthetic jaw but, this clown exudes creepy. Although, in the words of Twisty… “I’m a good person. Mama said so.”
For me, both Pennywise and Twisty deserve awards for their talents to terrorize. What do the Fan Fest News readers think? Which clown has the capacity to make your skin crawl? We’d like to know. Stop clowning around and leave your comment below!
