Jonathan Groff Gives an Update on What is Happening with ‘Frozen 2’

Disney fans absolutely fell in love with Frozen and even though the original film was released in 2013, fans still can’t get enough of Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and all the other characters from the film.  The film’s sequel, Frozen 2, won’t be hitting theaters until 2019 but, the buzz surrounding the production is already starting to kick into high gear.

The fans aren’t the only ones who are super excited about the start of production on the upcoming film.  The cast is also pumped and ready to head back into the studio for voice work.  Jonathan Groff, who voiced the role of Kristoff in the original film, gushed about his return to the recording studio to Entertainment Weekly recently.  Groff was partaking in an interview regarding his upcoming podcast musical 36 Questions when the interviewer was asked to give an update on the progress being made on Frozen 2.

Groff replied:

“I think I just got an email yesterday where I’m about to go into the recording studio in a couple of weeks, or maybe a month?”  They’re about to really get into the thick of recording it, which I’m excited about. I don’t know anything about it yet other than I’m about to start recording my section of it.”

Sadly, Groff didn’t dish on any details regarding the plot of the new film but, he did continue to say how thrilled he is to be back working with directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck and songwriting duo Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez:

“I’m just excited that I’m in it [laughs], you know? Excited to be in it and that creative team is also just so amazing, so I’m excited to get back in a room with them and play around.… The four of them are such an awesome team and I really, really love them.”

Frozen 2 is officially underway and will be released on Nov. 27, 2019.  Are you excited for the sequel?
