Five Movies We Can’t Wait to Watch on Netflix in July

With just a few days left in the month of June, Netflix announced what viewers can expect to see added to its lineup in July and we are excited. There are a few films headed to Netflix that we don’t ever get tired of, a few that tear up our hearts, and even a few that keep us laughing.

While we haven’t yet looked at what’s leaving the streaming service, because sometimes that totally bums us out, these are five of the films we’re most looking forward to having on Netflix so we can rewatch them as much as we’d like.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Okay, so maybe we won’t be rewatching this one a lot because it makes us cry as hard as we did the first time, every single time we watch it. However, it’s a movie that everyone should see at least once. The story is heartbreaking, the fact that things like that happened is even more heartbreaking, and the acting is so believable you almost feel like you’re watching scenes in life as they happen.

Titanic

A young Leonardo DiCaprio anyone? Not only is Titanic like THE ultimate love story, Leo is just…everything in Titanic. He’s charming, he’s totally smitten by Kate, he can draw, and he’s got eyelashes a mile long. We’re swooning, and we aren’t the least bit sorry.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

For the Star Wars fans, this is an exciting addition. Rouge One was a massive hit and we can’t wait to see the film again. Yes, we own it on Blue Ray, but it is what it is.

Lion

The story behind Lion is absolutely beautiful, heartbreaking, and inspiring all at once. It’s hard to do it justice in words but watching it is an experience. Once you watch the film, you can read the non-fiction book A Long Way Home in which the film was inspired by.

To The Bone

This is the one, next to Titanic (don’t judge us) that we’re most excited about. The film is a Netflix original and it covers a topic that’s not always easy to discuss, but one that’s more necessary to view than you might think. Eating Disorders are impossibly hard to describe, they’re lonely mental illnesses, and they can destroy you from the inside out. When a film about eating disorders is made, you have to be careful. You don’t want to glamorize it but you don’t want to take away from the serious nature of people who are addicted to getting smaller, no matter what.

The trailer for To The Bone was met with some criticism as some fans thought the calorie counting was glorified and some of the situations were made to be ‘admirable’ but the thing is, the portrayal is honest (from what we’ve seen so far). It is a constant struggle when you’re obsessed with calories and struggling to make it up a flight of stairs and with Lily Collins having struggled with an eating disorder herself, we think she would only have signed on to a film if it were doing the right thing. The writer and director also struggled with an ED in her life.

What films are you most excited to see in the Netflix catalog? Let us know.
