Who knew that a simple follow on Twitter would ignite a huge buzz amongst DC fans? It all started when Geoff Johns followed Armie Hammer, leading many to believe that the actor would join the DC Extended Universe as either Green Lantern or Shazam! After months of speculation, however, Hammer took the time to clear things up while promoting his latest flick, Cars 3 (out tomorrow), exclusively telling Screen Rant that sadly, he has not been contacted by Warner Brothers about either role.

Screen Rant: “Now I know on Twitter there’s been a lot of back and forth with you and Henry Cavill, him wanting you to play Hal Jordan, and also The Rock wants you to play Shazam. So who’s it gonna be: Hal Jordan or Shazam? Just between you and me.”
Armie: “What an embarrassment of riches to have all these choices. The funny thing is, nobody has ever come to me and been like… My agent has never really called and said, ‘Armie, Warner Bros. has been talking to me. They’re really interested in you. This whole thing.’ Never. In fact, after… there was like a… When the Green Lantern stuff first kind of started, which I think is Geoff Johns fault, because he like followed me on Twitter or something, and everybody was like what does that mean?! So uh… how did it happen, um, I called my agent after it had been going on for like a week or two, it had been going on for a little bit, I called my agent, I was like, ‘Man, have you heard anything from like DC or anything?’, and he was like, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘Nothing?’, he was like ‘No.’ I was like, ‘Not one thing?’, and he was like ‘No, why?.’ I was like, ‘Nothing about… Green Lantern?’, and he was like, ‘No, nothing,’ and I was like, all right. That’s it, that’s the end of it.”

Hmm, it sure sounds like Armie tried his best not to give anything away, which is expected if he’s under contract. Another actor wanted heavily by the DC fandom to join the DCEU is Charlie Hunnam, who first told Yahoo Movies back in March he had no interest in portraying Green Arrow and didn’t know who he was. However, when promoting King Arthur last month, the actor seemed open to the idea, telling Brazilian website Omelette, “You know, I’m not a comic book fan so I don’t really know the Green Arrow. Do I look like him? Have they made a Green Arrow film?… Well, come on, DC, what’s up? Give me a call!”

Who would you want Armie to play: Green Lantern or Shazam?
