American Crime Story: ‘Versace’ To Air Before ‘Katrina’

Ryan Murphy’s second anthology show American Crime Story has undergone a reshuffle.

Production on Katrina: American Crime Story will now take place early next year and is set to air in late 2018, meaning The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story will air as the second season to the award-winning series.

It has been reported that Katrina – based on Douglas Brinkley’s book The Great Deluge – has been delayed due to production requiring more time in order to create special effects that accurately represent that events of the Hurricane which struck in 2005. The now third instalment in the American Crime Story franchise will star: Annette Bening, Dennis Quaid, Sarah Paulson, Matthew Broderick, Courtney B. Vance and Cuba Gooding Jr.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace, on the other hand, is currently in production and already has its first couple of episodes filmed. The season will focus on the murder of the fashion designer who was shot by Andrew Cunanan – who will be portrayed by Glee star Darren Criss – in 1997.

Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin and Edgar Ramirez will also star in the upcoming season which is set to air early next year.
