A New ‘Game of Thrones’ Pop-Up Bar is Coming to Washington, DC
Hey Game of Thrones fans! Do you ever wish you had a place where you could go to “drink and know things” while hanging out with other Game of Thrones fans surrounded by awesome Game of Thrones stuff? Well, starting on June 21st, such a place will be popping into existence!
The Drink Company is teaming up with Ommegang Brewery to open up a Game of Thrones pop up bar this summer! The bar will be located in Washington, DC and will be a completely immersive and interactive experience that fans of the HBO hit series will love!
Spanning over 3000 square feet, the bar, appropriately named The Game of Thrones PUB, will have different rooms representing the North, the Red Keep, Mereen, the House of Black and White, and the Throne Room. Each room will be filled with awesome Game of Thrones displays and unique decorations inspired by the series for example, there actually is a Hall of Faces but it’s replicated with plaster molds of the Drink Company employees, families and friends. And what would a Game of Thrones themed bar be without Dragons? You bet the Game of Thrones PUB will have dragons!
Of course, there will be fun themed drinks such as the “Dothraquiri” (which contains Cotton & Reed Dry White Rum, Jamaican Rum, Banane Du Bresil, Creme De Cacao, Cane Sugar, Lime), the “Shame” (which contains Tequila + Grapefruit Tonic) and “The Lannisters Send Their Regards” (which contains Vodka, Fino Sherry, Contratto Bitter, Strawberry, Lemon, Sparkling Water) just to name a few. The Drink Company CEO Angie Fetherston says the Pub was developed because a pure love for the show:
“To quote the great George R.R. Martin, ‘there has to be a level of joy of what you’re doing’ and we believe Game of Thrones is the seminal show of this decade. We didn’t have a choice; the three-eyed raven picked us. This PUB is our love letter to the Seven Kingdoms and we cannot wait to share it with fellow fans.”
If you are planning to visit the bar, be sure to get there early since the location will not be taking reservations. The bar will be open Monday – Thursday from 5pm – 12:30am, Friday – Saturday from 5pm – 1:30am and Sunday 1pm – 7pm. The bar will be closed on Sunday nights, when the show airs, presumably so the super fan staff can also watch. For more information, you can visit their website HERE.
