Negan’s First ‘Lucilled’ Victim has been Revealed
Before we begin, we have to warn you that some spoilers lie ahead so if you’re waiting to see Negan’s story unfold on television before you check out the Here’s Negan story. Here’s a parting gift in the form of a Negan gif for those of you who are turning away now.
For those of you still with us, the latest installment of Here’s Negan gives us insight into the first victim that fell at Negan’s feet and the reason he took the bat to his skull actually makes Negan all the more human.
‘I have to say, I have a real fu—- problem with it, too. I know what it’s like to have loved a woman, real emphasis on loved. You lost someone close to you? Even if you haven’t you should still be aware of the fu—- world around you – it’s us against them right? So shouldn’t we try to treat us a little better? If you’ll do that with a woman, well, maybe you’re a little closer to them than I’d like. I mean, you either value a human life or you fu—- don’t right? Whatever you guys were doing…it stops now or this is where we part ways.‘
‘Oh, you’re running things now? You’re going to tell us what we can and can’t do with our women? Fu– you, man.’
Negan then gets pushed into a pile of junk where he pulls out a bat covered in barbed wire and…the rest is history. At this point, the bat isn’t named Lucille, but he does feel the power that comes with it, and the fact that the man he killed – along with the men around him – had been sexually assaulting women will shape who Negan becomes as a villain.
That paired with the trauma of losing a woman that he loved and the events surrounding that, plus the whole…zombie thing…it’s going to serve a lot of importance as the comics and the television series continue. The thing is, in the ways that it’s possible, Negan isn’t the super villain that just takes life to take it, and while he’s brutal and violent – there’s a method to his madness, and part of that method came from the way he compartmentalized pain.
