‘Arrow’: What is next for Slade Wilson?

In the Arrow Season Finale episode ‘Lian Yu’, Oliver found himself having to go to the extremes when it came to finding help in defeating Prometheus. One of those extremes, was reaching out to his former best friend-turned arch nemesis; Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke.

Oddly enough, it didn’t take much convincing to get Slade to agree to work with Oliver. Slade stated that he was ‘in possession’ of all of his marbles, and everything seemed like a bad dream. Finally, the Mirakuru serum had worn off.

Although it didn’t seem to take that much convincing to get Slade to agree to work side-by-side with Oliver, just like ‘old times’, Oliver also brought in a favor for Slade.  Oliver handed Slade a flash-drive containing a slew of information on Slade’s son, Joe (Comic fans know Joe as Jericho) on top of his current whereabouts.

We already saw a glimpse of Slade’s son, Grant, in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow that aired last season… and he was on a warpath for revenge. Maybe now that Oliver and Slade reconciled, his outcome will be a bit different as well.

Following that quite epic and explosive Season Finale, fans have begun to question… what is next for Slade?

I’m not going to lie, I found it incredibly touching to see Slade and Oliver working together again, just as they did in Season One.

One thing that Twitter has been explosive with lately is for Deathstroke to get his own mini series. I mean, I’m not going to lie… that is something I would probably watch over and over again, at least 500 times. Deathstroke is, by far, my favorite DC Villain.

Assuming Slade survives the explosion (please Writers, please don’t take Slade away) it would be assumed that Oliver would hold up on his promise to Slade and together, they would go hunt down Joe together. Now, whether or not Joe has all of HIS marbles together… that is another story. While the writers may not bring Slade on the entire Season 6, I could definitely see him setting off to find Joe and disappearing for a few episodes, and then coming back to Star City to ask Oliver for his help.

A third option would be that Slade sets off on his own quest, trying to figure out who he really is now that he has returned to a normal, sane state. Slade is a proud person, and even though he helped out Oliver on his quest… he may ask to, at first, solve his ‘family issues’ on his own. While I would prefer option one or two, I could see it going in this direction also.

Either way, we are hoping that we are going to see more of Slade this upcoming season. Having him in the Season 5 finale episode was one of the best decisions made by the Arrow staff team; as it certainly was one of those characteristics that really made the episode.

Arrow will return in the fall.
