Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o to Star in Film After Social Media Post goes Viral

Sometimes, the best way to get what you want is to simply give the idea to the universe and see what happens. At least, that’s what happened when a photo of Rihanna and Luipta Nyong’o turned meme circulated the internet so much that it was seen by the right set of eyes.

The photo, below, does look like it’s a still from an incredible movie, and fans online aren’t the only ones who saw ‘the look’. The photo is actually from a fashion show in 2014 but it definitely does fit the caption that was posted alongside it on social media recently.

They look like they’re in a heist movie with Rihanna as the tough-as-nails leader/master thief and Lupita as the genius computer hacker.

Whoever first came up with the thought was right. That’s exactly what the pair look like, we couldn’t have described it better, and honestly, the base for the storyline is pretty cool itself. This could easily turn into one kickass girl power film.

After the idea caught on via social media, or sort of ‘went viral’, Twitter users sent tweets to DuVernay to direct and Rae to write the script for this film idea. While it might seem like a longshot to some, social media is the way to make connections happen, and while it often takes more than a few clever tweets and ideas, sometimes it just takes a tweet.
Lupita saw the tweet for herself and immediately said that she was in for the film, then asking   Rihanna if she was down.

Just hours later, it was confirmed that the film had been picked up, by Netflix, and there’s no news on production or anything so far, but this brilliant idea, born of a few tweets, has taken off and we’re going to keep up with every step of the journey.

Have you ever shared an awesome idea online that actually turned into something incredible? Are you excited to see where this new film goes? Let us know.
