Martin-Green will portray First Officer Michael Burnham and the series takes place “10 years before Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise.”
From the looks of the trailer, Burnham may be given the opportunity to command or lead her own crew or ship by her Captain Philippa Georgiou played by Michelle Yeoh.
Other cast include Jason Isaacs (Captain Lorca), Doug Jones (Lt. Saru), and Rainn Wilson (Harry Mudd). James Frain (Sarek) is also seen in the clip but is only cast in one episode.
CBS announced the extention to a 15 episode run instead of the original 13 episodes.
Star Trek: Discovery, again, is a prequel to the original series. You can watch the first season when it premieres on CBS All Access in the Fall 2017.
