Fans of This Is Us have been enjoying this bittersweet downtime between season 1 and season 2. For many fans, it was hard to end season 1 with loose ends and one of those loose ends was finding out what happened to Jack Parsons. For a man we all love and adore so much, it’s hard to watch episode upon episode and see the family living life without him – after his death – but not understanding how they got to where they are now.

Jack loved his wife, he loved his children, and he loved his friends. He was loyal and he was kind. Yes, he had his demons, ones that may be responsible for his untimely death, but he also sought to do better and to be the man Rebecca deserved and the father that his children would be inspired by. Jack is the guy that anyone would be lucky to be with forever.

However, once we saw Rebecca and Jack’s best friend…together, we wondered what had happened. Was Jack and Rebecca’s love story not strong enough? There’s no way, there had to be something else. That something else was that Jack passed away, and that was the cruelest fate of all.

Rebecca and Miguel is an idea that took us a while to get used to (see: we’re still getting used to it) but it has to make sense, right? While we enjoy on Jack’s life and aim to soak up as much of him as we can, we do want to know how he dies and we want to know how Miguel and Rebecca get together.

We’re not sure when the latter will come to light, but Sterling K. Brown gave E! an exclusive on Monday evening about Jack’s fate.

I know we’ll find out how Jack dies and I know we’ll see it. Don’t cry yet! I can’t tell you exactly when it will happen…it will happen this season.

Susan Watson was also on the carpet and gave her own opinion about season 2 and says that she hopes fans focus more on Jacks’ life.

‘I think it’s so much more important to watch his life. There are jewels in there and so many other connective things we’re going to play with that to watch that play out is going to be something just as great as finding out how he passes.

We can’t wait until season 2 of This Is Us makes its comeback, but we do have to admit, we still aren’t prepared to find out how Jack died. Can they somehow all just be dreaming…or…nightmare-ing that part of this story up?

We recommend rewatching season 1, taking out some stock in Kleenex, and preparing yourself for season 2’s comeback, it’s going to be an emotional one.
