Throw your fists in the air and sing “Don’t You Forget About Me” because there is a fully-immersive John Hughes event coming to Chicago next month. After the success of last summer’s Ferris Fest, a first-ever fan event is being hosted to celebrate the iconic films of John Hughes.
The Shermer Club is happening June 22-25 and gives fans a chance to meet their favorite stars from Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Pretty in Pink, and Some Kind of Wonderful. Celebrity guests, including Anthony Michael Hall, Andrew McCarthy, and Lea Thompson, are scheduled.
The weekend’s schedule includes screenings of Hughes’ classics, followed by Q&As with the actors. A weekend kick-off concert will take place on the 22nd, and the weekend will also include a tour of filming locations around the Chicago-land area. In addition, an immersive recreation of the ending of Sixteen Candles will be played out in the original filming location.
Also making an appearance will be some of the famous cars from the aforementioned films, including Jake Ryan’s Porsche and Cameron’s father’s Ferrari. The event is organized by FilmedHere, who also organized Ferris Fest.
