Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Celebrated ‘Star Wars Day’ With Festive Socks

Who knew that elected and highly-regarded officials could be complete and totally lovable geeks at heart.  That certainly seems to be the case with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Last week, geeky fandom celebrated the unofficial holiday Star Wars Day.  Fans of the film franchise proudly wore t-shirts, ties, cosplay and other assorted accessories relating to the film in order to celebrate the awesomeness that exists within the Star Wars universe.  It truly was a day to let your fandom flag fly high and proudly for all to see and, that’s just what Trudeau did!

Business carried on as it normally would.  Trudeau had a scheduled meeting with the Irish Prime Minister which he needed to attend and, while doing so, of course, needed to maintain his professional demeanor.  However, at the same time, he clearly wanted to relish in all that May the 4th has to offer true die-hard fans. If you weren’t looking closely, you would have thought that everything about the meeting was professional and totally normal:

If you looked a look closer at any media coverage or, if you follow Trudeau on Instagram, you would have learned that he went for a more subtle Star Wars celebration that, most likely, would have gone unnoticed if not for the wonders of social media.  Sporting super awesome, brightly colored C-3PO and R2-D2 socks, Trudeau posted a pic captioned “These are the socks you’re looking for.”  Check it out:

First off, where can we get a pair of these awesome socks!  They really are quite amazing!  Secondly, how cool is the Canadian Prime Minister?  What do you think of Justin Trudeau celebrating May the 4th?  Sound off in the comment section below!
