Moments. They happen. Today was and is a moment. What does remission mean? I heard that word and have no idea how to react. Good news? YES. Overwhelming. YES. Now more waiting. As every single one of my fellow cancer family knows, the next five years is crucial. Reoccurrences happen all the time. Many of you have shared that very story with me. So with a heart that is certainly lighter, I wait. In the meantime, decisions. Reconstruction which is several surgeries. Decision on taking a pill for the next five years that comes with its own set of problems and side effects. I am blessed, I know that. But for now…. remission. I'm going to just breathe. #cancerslayer
Shannen started with a quote about moments and hearing the word remission. She didn’t know how to react except to enjoy the overwhelming news but to also remain grounded. Her next step is waiting, as she went on to say that the next five years will be crucial. Reoccurrences happen with types of cancer all the time, especially hers, and she said that many of her fans have shared those personal stories with her themselves.
She will also undergo several surgeries for reconstruction and decide whether or not she will take a pill for the next five years – which she admits comes with its own set of problems.
Being blessed is a feeling she’s embracing, however, and she isn’t going to let fear overtake that. She’s also never let her cancer take away her fighting spirit or her drive to get up and move. She posts on Instagram posts of joy alongside her journey fighting the disease – now, she’ll be focusing on a new road entirely.
Shannen’s breast cancer battle began in March of 2015, we are thrilled as fans to know that she’s finally embracing the light at the end of the tunnel.
