‘Arrow’: Oliver to Forge a New Legacy in Season 6

Although we still have quite a few episodes of Season 5 remaining, Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggeheim already have Season 6 in their sights- and it would seem as though they have for awhile now. We already know for sure that we won’t find out who vigilante is until Season 6, and now the storyline is about to get even more interesting.

In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, EP Wendy Mericle touched on Oliver’s current legacy, and how it’s going to be completely different in Season 6.

“Oliver is moving toward forging a new legacy,” Mericle said. “He’s put this past and this burden from his family to rest and he’s moving forward to redefine that in season 6. It’s all new, and he’s got this wealth of experience and knowledge to draw from now, and a team to work with.”

As we come in to a close on Season 5, we can expect many thrills and surprises in the episodes that remain… and the conclusion of this season will definitely be giving us something to look forward to in Season 6. We recently learned that both Wild Dog and Dinah Drake will be back; and this time as regulars. Team Arrow is forged and strong once more!

“Moving into season 6, we’re not calling it a reboot because the show’s still called Arrow and it’s still about Oliver and his team, so that part’s not changing, but we aren’t going to have the flashbacks,” Mericle explained.

As interesting as the flashback sequences have been, because there are some seasons where I REALLY enjoyed the flashbacks- it will be nice to keep the focus on what is currently going on in the show.

“It gives us a lot more real estate, a lot more space to hopefully bring in some cool villains and tell some cool character stories — and we have some new characters on the show whose backstories we really haven’t had an opportunity to experience. WE saw a little bit of Wild Dog’s, we haven’t seen that much of Dinah’s. If we bring in anybody new or we’d love to have Ragman back at some point as well, we can use the flashback device to tell other people’s kind of islands, if you will. And that part is very exciting.”

Arrow will return on Wednesday at 8PM/EST on The CW.
