Kim Kardashian Speaks of Robbery in Paris on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

The Kardashian’s are some of the most publicized, photographed, and popular families in the entertainment industry. With television shows, fashion lines, and a general life of lavishness, they are a high-value public interest. Even people who claim that they don’t care for the family, often talk about them anyway.

One of the most talked about parts of their lives happened recently when Kim Kardashian was robbed in Paris. The incident was terrifying, it was the reason Kanye walked off stage at a concert (rightfully so) and it was traumatic. Kim’s public outings have been very scarce since the incident and in recent episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians – you can see the toll it took on her.

Kim has said that she was scared she would die in that hotel room without seeing her loved ones again, that fear has to be impossibly hard to live with. Kim has done it, however, and she’s looking stronger and healthier in recent days.

She sat down with Ellen DeGeneres and spoke a little bit about the incident and while she didn’t go into much detail, she said that it changed her as a person.

“I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me. I don’t want to start crying, but I feel like that was so meant to happen to me, I’m such a different person. I, um…I don’t want to start crying anymore. It was meant to happen to me. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things. It was probably no secret, and you see it on the show—I was being flashy and I was definitely materialistic before.

She elaborated more on that moments later.

Like I said, everyone gets so excited when they get things. Or, of course, when you get engaged, you’re going to show off your ring. If you get a new car—I don’t care what kind it is—you get so proud and you get so happy and you show that off on social media. But it’s just…it’s not worth it. Like, I don’t care about that stuff. I don’t care to show off the way that I used to. Even though there’s nothing wrong, truly—it’s OK if you’re proud of that and you work so hard and you get something—it’s just not who I am anymore.

She went on to speak about the robbery a bit more, and the real emotion on her face and in her voice shows that she means what she says. It’s hard to think that anything bad could happen to us for a reason, but Kim absolutely looks at the robbery in that way and that takes a lot of strength.
