‘Arrow’ Recap ‘Dangerous Liaisons’

There is nothing more exciting for me (well almost nothing more exciting for me) than having my all time favorite TV Show return, after being on a hiatus. The struggle has really been real the past few weeks, as I have been dying to know what journeys lay ahead for Oliver and his Team; especially when the news of Manu’s Bennett returning as Deathstroke were released! Surprisingly during this episode, there were no flashbacks. Not that I despise the flashbacks, but it definitely kept the focus that was required for this episode.

The episode opens up with Team Arrow working side by side with A.R.G.U.S tracking down Adrian Chase; as he has been ‘in the wind’ for about a week. They tracked his life signature, which leads them to an arcade. They head inside the arcade only to discover that it is a rigged nightmare. Chase had the arcade set up so that the second the teams entered the building, automatic rifles and other various booby traps would start firing at the team.

The team heads back to the Arrow Cave, where Lyla tells him that while Team Arrow her A.R.G.U.S agents were inside the arcade, Chase slipped out by escaping through a hidden tunnel. Oliver heads to city hall to do some press damage control; only to find out that not only is Prometheus a pretty vindictive enemy…. so is the press. The journalists continued to question how Oliver was able to work ‘side by side with a serial killer’. Oliver was able to keep the journalists at bay (for the moment), telling them that there was an ongoing investigation but the details were ‘confidential’.

Back at the Arrow Cave, Felicity began to run out of patience; so she turned to Helix for help. Helena and Felicity come to the conclusion that the only way Chase could possibly know A.R.G.U.S was after him, was because he must of had an agent on the inside working with him. They work their magic and trace a call that came directly from an A.R.G.U.S cell phone, tipping Chase off that they were coming for him back at that arcade.

At A.R.G.U.S, we see the rogue agent get into the elevator. Not even 10 seconds later, the elevator makes some horrible spastic sounds and the doors open again and the agent falls out….dead. Helena sneaks out from her hiding spot around the corner and looks down at the body in shock. Oliver and his team arrive at A.R.G.U.S sometime later and discover the body of the agent. They pull footage off of the elevator security camera and find themselves extremely confused. The footage shows the agent walking into the elevator and then suddenly he is tossed around like a sack of potatoes. Felicity views the footage also, and tells the team that the elevator had to of been rigged. She pulls some code off of it and immediately recognizes the code…. it was Helena’s code.

While all this chaos is going on, back at City Hall Lance and Renee meet in Lance’s office. Lance asks Renee why he never told Lance he had a daughter and above all, if Renee has full visitation rights, why has he not gone and seen her. Renee tells Lance because he ‘hurt her’. One night he was reheating soup for Zoe and he passed out on the couch, drunk. Zoe went to take the soup off of the stove herself, and she burnt her hand. Renee tells Lance that he isn’t fit to be a father, and he storms out.

Felicity heads back to Helix and confronts Helena about it. Helena states that she didn’t mean to kill him, and she was only after the key that he had in his possession. She tells Felicity that Cayden James, founder of Helix and the world’s greatest hacker, is currently being held in Helix.

She needed to get the key in order to free him. She convinces Felicity to help her by stating that before he was arrested, Cayden was working on a biometric tracker capable of locating any heartbeat on Earth. The only thing they need is the second key, which is in the possession of another agent, so that they can free him. Felicity agrees to help Helena, and the two of them hire mercenaries to get the second key from the other A.R.G.U.S agent.

Team Arrow and Lyla confront Felicity about what happened, and to her surprise…they don’t understand at all. She immediately calls Oliver, Diggle and Lyla out on their morally right decisions over the years. She storms out of the Arrow Cave, telling her team that she will do whatever it takes to see Chase behind bars.

Oliver heads to her apartment in an attempt to convince her not to join Helix and attempt to free Caydon. Felicity tells Oliver that if he doesn’t understand, than he will just ‘have to stop her’; and she heads out.

Diggle discovers that Felicity isn’t the only one willing to do whatever it takes. Lyla confesses to Diggle’s that Cayden is being detained without due process. Lyla argues that Caydon is a danger, and if she releases him, he could release all sorts of classified information, including the identities of A.R.G.U.S. agents. Diggle immediately compares her to Amanda Waller. Lyla states that by heading up A.R.G.U.S, she understands where Waller was coming from.

Felicity, Helena and a team of Helix agents head to the A.R.G.U.S. site where Cayden is being held, using the stolen keys to free him from his cell. Team Arrow shows up, after previously being at the wrong A.R.G.U.S site, and a fight ensues.  Felicity is forced to choose a side; to which she chooses Helix. While Helena and the other Helix agents hurry Caydon into their escape vehicle, Oliver confronts them and pulls out a pistol. Felicity steps in front of the weapon and reactivates the laser fence, completely blocking Oliver’s path. She apologizes, and then runs off with her Helix friends.

Back at City Hall, Lance reunites Renee and his daughter, who is extremely ecstatic to see him. She asks Renee if they can ‘go home’. Renee tells her that he has a lawyer friend now, and they can be a family again ‘soon’.

Felix heads to Helix to find it… empty. Moments later, Helena appears on a video screen. She tells Felicity that she can no longer participate in Helix because her connection to the Arrow is too great a liability; especially now that Caydon is free. However, Helena does not leave Felicity on bad terms. She left a gift for Felicity; Caydon’s biometric tracker.

Felicity heads back to the Arrow Cave, where she finds Oliver. She tells Oliver that she has the biometric tracker; but Helix has frozen her out. Oliver states that he is sorry, but he still doesn’t understand why Felicity jeopardizes the lives of their friends. Felicity argues that she supported many decisions of his that she didn’t agree with, and put people’s lives at risk in the past all the time.

Before they can further debate, their discussion gets interrupted when the biometric tracker picks up a signal. Chase’s heartbeat tracks…. right to the Arrow Cave. Before they can comment, the entire computer system explodes, sending Oliver and Felicity both flying as the screen blacks out.

Arrow will return next week at 8PM/EST on The CW.
