All eyes are currently locked on the upcoming sci-fi – horror film Alien: Covenant, however the only person missing in an Alien film is the franchise’s iconic heroine, Ellen Ripley.

Ridley Scott has already confirmed that he is working on further sequels after Covenant, maybe Ripley could return after all?

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert host Stephen Colbert has exclusively pitched an idea to send to Scott that includes Sigourney Weaver reprising her role as Ripley after 20 years.

Taking place on Weyland Yutani Space Station, Colbert plays a disinterested medic who would rather enjoy reading a copying of Facehugger Fancy magazine than help Weaver fight off a loose Xenomorph.

It was reported that Weaver was on board to return for a fifth Alien film directed by Neil Blomkamp, before Ridley had other terrifying plans for the franchise.

Alien: Covenant hits cinemas May 12 (UK) and May 19 (US).
