Chris Pratt Shoots Down ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Jurassic World’ Fan Theory

Everyone loves a good fan theory.  Especially when that theory makes perfect sense and connects two totally awesome films.  If you’re a fan of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World then, chances are, you’ve already heard this one.

Not long ago, a theory began circling the internet that Chris Pratt’s character in Jurassic World, raptor trainer and expert Owen, was actually the adult version of the little boy which Dr. Grant (Sam Neil) scared the bajeebus out of in the first film. Remember the kid that said the velociraptor evolution theory wasn’t scary and was more like looking at a 6-foot turkey instead of a dinosaur?  Yeah, this kid.

Great theory, right?  And that would be an amazingly brilliant connection to the first film of the series!  We have learned, however, from Chris Pratt himself that, unfortunately, this theory doesn’t appear to be true.

While doing press rounds for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pratt was asked about the theory from The Huffington Post.  Pratt’s response was:

“I have heard about that. I don’t see it as being true.  It’s sweet though. And I love that kid, and I love the idea of that possibility, but I do officially say, as the bastion of Owen’s backstory, but not the creator of the character, that’s not true. It’d be cooler if it was.”

Sadly, that seems like a pretty big missed opportunity on behalf of the franchise.  We agree with Pratt that, it would be MUCH cooler if that fan theory was true.

Well, what do you think about the theory?  Would you like the film and Chris Pratt’s character more if the he were connected to the first film?  Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!

Jurassic World 2 is scheduled for its theatrical release on June 22, 2018.
