Kendrick Lamar’s new album DAMN to be Released this Friday

In a few short days, fans of Kendrick Lamar will have more music to add to their libraries. That’s right, Lamar is releasing a full length album titled DAMN which is the follow-up to his 2015 album titled To Pimp A Butterfly. In 2016, untitled unmastered hit the industry but it wasn’t a complete album, instead, it was a series of outtakes.

Lamar doesn’t just give his fans music, he gives them a complete experience. He’s more than a musician/rapper – he’s an artist. He makes headlines with his live performances and his songs resonate with young adults everywhere. He doesn’t just make music to be trendy, he makes it to carry a message.

Kendrick doesn’t speak openly about his work, instead, he lets it speak for itself. However, EW had some interesting information about DAMN before it’s release.

Lamar picked very impressive people to work with on this album, as well as his prior releases. DAMN has two specific artists penned on its tracklist: Rihanna and U2. He’s worked with a slew of other artists between albums as well, but those names aren’t on the tracklist this time around. We can’t wait to hear what he has in store for us with these big influences in music.

EW also says that Lamar’s album is a bit rock influenced, which is something we can totally see. His songs are definitely rap and hip/hop but his style stands to make sense on the rock map as well. In fact, his stage presence already represents a rockstar vibe and so does his general personality. He’s bigger than one genre, bigger than just one experience.

Lamar will also stay political, but won’t always be in your face about it. Instead, he’s going back to his roots and focusing on work being done in smaller communities where the spotlight isn’t focused upon.

I think now, with how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork.

Part of Lamar’s appeal is the way his music is an absolute treat, and we don’t want to give too much away or read too much into it ourselves. On Friday, we’ll be enjoying DAMN in its entirety, and we imagine a lot of other young adults will too.
