Christian Bale In Talks To Portray Former VP Dick Cheney in Biopic
Christian Bale, star of The Dark Knight Trilogy and American Hustle, is in talks with producers to play former Vice President Dick Cheney in a biopic of his life. The news was confirmed to Entertainment Weekly by the film’s director, Adam McKay.
Other notables that are also being considered are Amy Adams, who will play Lynne Cheney and Steve Carell, who would play former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
Also being written by McKay, the unnamed Paramount Studios film is a follow-up to The Big Short, which also starred Carell and Bale.
Dick Cheney served as Vice President under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. He was a major player in the war on terror as well as the Iraq War. Before becoming Vice President, he was the CEO of Halliburton and served in the administrations of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George H.W. Bush.
“I was astounded at how much [Cheney] had shaped modern America’s place in the world and how shocking the methods were by which he gained his power.” ~ Adam McKay
