Robert Downey Jr. to Star in New ‘Dr. Dolittle’ Film
From The Avengers to animals! Robert Downey Jr. is about to take on a brand new film franchise.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the Iron Man star will be taking on the title role in The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, a new film based on the 1920’s book series by Hugh Lofting.
While exact plot details have not yet been released, the series centers around Doctor Dolittle, a human doctor with a very special skill. He can talk to all kinds of animals.
The series originally graced the big screen in 1967 but was more recently remade with Eddie Murphy as the title character in 1998.
The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle will be directed by Stephen Gaghan (Gold, Syriana) and Universal won the bid for studio rights to the film. No word yet on additional casting details or a release date.
