‘The Big Bang Theory’ Recap ‘The Emotion Detection Automation’

Raj just broke up with his girlfriend and the guys are trying to console him. Sheldon’s take on this subject is by saying that not everyone finds a mate. He’s kind of being offensive about it. Apparently Isaac Newton died a virgin.

Sheldon blames his lack of ability to read emotions.

Bernadette brings up a study at MIT where scientists developed a machine that helps people read emotions. Howard sets it up.

Penny’s brother, Randall, has an interview at her workplace and Leonard is not completely thrilled. (Given Randall’s history with drugs.)

Sheldon brings his emotion machine home and it starts a fight between Penny and Leonard. Leonard is upset because Penny didn’t ask him before she invited her brother to stay over. Penny brings up the fact that he went ahead and planned a game room without talking to her about it.

Raj called all of his ex’s and wants to get them together to discuss what went wrong and how he can fix it. He called Lucy, Claire, red headed Emily and red headed Emily jr.

Raj’s ex-intervention is going well. Ish. All of the girls kind of hurt his feelings but they agree that after they dated him, they found better men. Kind of like Howard.

After the girls leave, Raj and Howard discuss what it’d be like if they were in a relationship.

Back at Sheldon and Amy’s, Sheldon is sad because he thought he was getting better at reading emotions but the machine made it real to him that he isn’t. Until Penny and Leonard come over to apologize, end up fighting again, and Sheldon recognizes it! Delighted he takes the machine back.

Lesson of the episode, pregnant women can accurately read emotions for up to 2 years after pregnancy. Nifty.
