Dumbledore to Appear in Fantastic Beasts Franchise

During a press junket, director David Yates confirmed the return of Dumbledore in the second Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film. According to Yates, Dumbledore and Newt have a good couple of scenes together. This news comes on the heels of Johnny Depp joining the franchise with a cameo in the first and major role in the second. He will be playing the notorious Dark Wizard Grindelwald, who was both a friend and enemy of Dumbledore. With Grindelwald joining the fray, it was really only a matter of time before Dumbledore made his appearance.

Casting is currently underway for young Dumbledore and I think it is exciting to see him join the films. Dumbledore’s story was absent from the Harry Potter movies because there was very little time to go into his history. Now, we will get even more of his story than we did from the books. It is a good day for Harry Potter film and book fans alike.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens November 18.
