Comedy Central Hit ‘Drunk History’ Announces 5th Season at PaleyLive, Talks Season 4

History may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but add a few shots of whiskey and things may start getting a bit more interesting. At least that’s what Drunk History‘s co-creator Derek Waters hopes his Comedy Central show accomplishes – as he announces at PaleyLive that the series will indeed have a fifth season! Their fourth season just premiered last week on Sept. 27.

Waters spoke to us on Tuesday night, both on the red carpet and in front of a panel audience at The Paley Center for Media in New York City, explaining that his show goes beyond drunk storytelling and sincerely seeks to teach viewers a little thing or two about the past.

Each episode of Drunk History features a different topic where inebriated “storytellers” recap a moment in history as they are dramatically (and hilariously) reenacted by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Past episodes have included Jack Black, Winona Ryder, The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun, and Academy Award-winner Octavia Spencer.

Among the panelists at the PaleyLive event, Loaded Questions: An Evening of Drunk History, were Waters, fellow co-creator Jeremy Konner, Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live), and panel moderator Josh Charles (The Good Wife). Audience members were treated to some of the current season’s footage, including a drunk Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) and appearances by Killam and Charles. Some of the show’s storytellers were also present, giving some insight into their drunken narrations.

Drunk History airs on Comedy Central, Tuesdays at 10:30/9:30c.

Check out our red carpet coverage below and find out what inspired co-creator Derek Waters to bring Drunk History to life and how Lin-Manuel Miranda and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) will play a part in the current season! Also listen to actor Josh Charles discuss his own role in the series.
