Lady Gaga to Headline the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show
After months of rumors and speculation, it was announced today that Lady Gaga will be headlining the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Super Bowl LI (or, for those like me who are roman numeral illiterate, that’s Super Bowl 51), will take place on February 5, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Many other artists were rumored to be headlining, including Adele who reportedly turned down the offer to perform however, Gaga made everything official today by announcing the news on her social media.
It's not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA! @nfl @FOXTV @pepsi #PERFECTILLUSION #GAGASUPERBOWL pic.twitter.com/qR4O57451G

Earlier this month, Billboard reported that, because of Gaga’s incredibly well-received National Anthem at last year’s game, she was top choice to headline.
Last year, approximately 111.9 million people tuned in to watch Coldplay, Bruno Mars, and Beyoncé’s halftime performance which received mixed reviews from fans and critics. The all time record for most halftime show viewers goes to Katy Perry, Missy Elliott, and Lenny Kravitz who, in 2015, drew a television audience of around 118.5 million.
