Shailene Woodley Is Not Interested In a TV Movie for ‘Ascendant’

There has been some commotion about the Divergent film series. An idea came out to make Ascendant, the final film of the series, a TV movie, that leads to a pilot for a new television series in the Divergent universe. But apparently no one told Shailene Woodley, because she seems not to be interested in being a part of it.

She had an interview with Screenrant and told them what she thought of the movie going to the small screen:

I didn’t sign up to be in a television show. Out of respect to the studio and everyone in involved, they may have changed their mind and may be doing something different, but I’m not necessarily interested in doing a television show.

The news that keeps coming for this movie is truly a mess. Not only for us, but for Lionsgate too. A movie that was so successful went down in rates with the last movie, they watched how a movie imploded and I can’t blame them for coming with this idea. Co-star Miles Teller talked about this in his Variety interview:

When we all signed on for the first one we had every intention of finishing it theatrically. We signed on for x amount of movies and you take that all into consideration. We wanted to see that storyline finish. You know, it’s moving into a different format. So who knows?

He seems to be very open to the idea. He also revealed that the cast members were all told about this news, right before the news hit the press. I do understand why they aren’t too happy about it as the communication was all very last minute.

Would you want it to continue in a TV show, or a movie? Tell us on our Twitter page!
