‘Throwback Thursday’: Darkwing Duck

Walt Disney Studios

Happy Thursday everyone! We are already at another ‘Throwback Thursday’! This week has really flown by! I was at a recent convention called ‘Monsters and Trucks’ and I came across this gentlemen who had all these retro television shows on DVD. It was pretty much a ‘Throwback Thursday’ fanatics playground aka… my playground. When I walked up to the table, I couldn’t help but hear a very familiar theme song playing. Now what theme song was that, may you ask? It was none other than the theme song for the classic, amazing show Darkwing Duck!

Darkwing Duck is an animated action-adventure comedy television series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation that first ran from 1991 to 1992 on Saturday mornings on ABC. It featured the duck superhero whose alter ego is suburban father Drake Mallard. It was designd to be a spin-off of the infamous television show, Duck Tales.

Darkwing Duck tells the adventures of the quacky superhero, who is aided by his sidekick and pilot Launchpad McQuack. Darkwing struggles to balance his egotistical craving for fame and attention against his desire to be a good father ontop of doing good for St. Canard. Fun fact, there are actually seven different versions of the Darkwing Duck theme song and introduction! How cool is that?!

Check out one of the theme songs in the video below:
