Harry Potter and the Cursed Child released Sunday at midnight

Relax, no spoilers here.

Harry Potter is back! 19 years later…

The eighth book in the Harry Potter Series, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has been released and in its original screen play format.  It begins where the Deathly Hollows left off,  Harry and his family at Platform 9 3/4.  The play opened in London July 30th, this past Saturday, and its script was released the following night.  The script currently published is a special rehearsal edition and will be printed until early 2017, according to Barnes & Noble, at which time a definitive edition will take its place.

According to Market Watch there is almost no demand for scripted books in the publishing industry so it is deathly hollowshard to definitively say how successful this screen play format will be.  By all accounts the numbers look promising; the book is both Amazon’s and Barnes & Noble’s most preordered book this year – for Barnes & Noble, since the last Harry Potter book in 2007.

The screen play, as a book, will most likely find it’s success with the worldwide audience that will not be able to attend the theatrical production in London.

Fun fact, the release date of this eighth book is also J.K. Rowling’s birthday, she is 51 years old!
