Winter May Delay The ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Premiere

Winter may have finally arrived during the Season 6 finale of Game of Thrones but, thanks to its arrival, it looks like Season 7 is going to be a bit delayed.

Game of Thrones executive producers/showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss appeared on the UFC Unfiltered Podcast yesterday, during which they broke the news that no GoT fan wants to hear.

Weiss said:

“We’re starting a little bit later because, at the end of this season, winter is here, and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more.  We kind of pushed everything down the line so we could get some grim, gray weather, even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”

Just last month, Benioff and Weiss confirmed the rumors that the epic show would be coming to an end with only two more seasons left with 13 episodes total split between the two seasons.

So, winter has finally arrived and it’s messing up what little production the series has left.  Game of Thrones typically begins production in July and premieres the new season in March or April.  Premiere dates have been trending later and later as the seasons move on but, just how late will Season 7 be?
