NBC’s ‘Grimm’ To Release New Comic Book Series

Hey Grimmsters!  Portland is about to get just a little bit weirder.  Yesterday, Dynamite Entertainment announced in a press release that new installments of Grimm comic books are coming our way this year.

First, a new series, titled Grimm #1, will take place within the TV show’s fourth season.  Grimm #1 will shift away from the story line of homicide investigator/Grimm Nick Burkhardt and focus on the leading ladies of the series, Juliette, Adalind, Truble and Rosalee.  The publisher’s description reads:

“What do Juliette, Adalind, Truble, and Rosalee have in common? They’re the women in the life of Portland’s own Grimm, Nick Burkhardt, and they’re about to cross paths in a way they’d never expect! Set during a tumultuous time in the hit television show, Juliette’s struggles to come to terms with becoming a Hexenbiest draw her into conflict with a new Wessen threat, and she finds she has nowhere to turn except her most hated enemy, Adalind… that’s right, the woman who impersonated Juliette and slept with Nick!”

Grimm #1 will be written by Caitlin Kittredge (author of Vertigo’s Coffin Hill) along with DC artist Maria Sanapo (DC Comics Bombshells).

Coinciding with the debut of this new series, Dynamite Entertainment will also be publishing Grimm Omnibus.  This is an opportunity for fans to own all of the previously published 2013-2014 Grimm comics (Issues #0-12) in a special Omnibus edition.  The series was written by show creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf as well as show writers Marc Gaffen and Kyle McVey.  The special edition will also include the Portland, Wu one-shot special and never-before-collected The Warlock miniseries (by Bram Stoker Award-winning author Jai Nitz).  The publisher’s description reads:

“Homicide detectives Nick Burkhardt and Hank Griffin must maintain order on the streets of Portland… which is no easy feat, as secret societies of mythological creatures known as Wesen threaten the balance of peace and power! Whether journeying to Europe in pursuit of the fabled Coins of Zakynthos, getting drawn into the personal vendetta of a madman, racing to save a missing girl with Wesen connections, or facing a seemingly invincible Warlock, the detectives — joined by the wolf-like Monroe and Sergeant Drew Wu — face all-new threats and uncover secrets unexplored in the television series itself!”

Grimm #1 and the Grimm Omnibus are slated for release in September 2016 and will also be available through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, and Dark Horse Digital.

Keep it weird, Grimmsters!
