Nick Zano Joins ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ Season Two

As hiatus continues news about new additions come fall are being announced.

According to Deadline, Nick Zano will be joining Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular for the show’s sophomore season.

Zano will be playing Dr. Nate Heywood, who eventually becomes Citizen Steel in the comics and is a member of the Justice Society of America. In the DC Comics universe, Heywood  comes from a line of different iterations of Steels, starting with his grandfather, Henry, who was Commander Steel.

Nate was a former football star who retires because of a shattered kneecap and later has his leg amputated. It’s only after an attack at a family gathering by Vandal Savage’s metahuman group, where his mother and brother are turned to metal, that he acquires his superhuman abilities and metallic regrowth of his leg after absorbing metallic blood from one of the metas. Because of his superhuman abilities, including his strength, he is later given a suit made of stainless steel alloy by Dr. Mid-Nite and Mr. Terrific to try and manage it, a potentially interesting to an already introduced Arrow-verse character (Curtis Holt).  Citizen Steel then joins the Justice Society of America to try and defeat the group of metas called the Fourth Reich only to later join the JSA All-Stars.

Nate Heywood made his first appearance in Justice Society of America comics in 2007 and was created by Geoff Johns and Alex Ross.

The news comes after bidding farewell to a few of the Legends towards the end of the season including Wentworth Miller’s Leonard Snart (Captain Cold) after he sacrificed himself  and the Hawks, who decided to leave during the finale after finally defeating Vandal Savage.

The finale also briefly introduced this new organization as Patrick J. Adams’ character introduced himself as a member of the Justice Society of America. Adams is also expected to appear in a few episodes at the beginning of Legends of Tomorrow‘s second season.

Zano’s previous credits include What I Like About YouHappy Endings, 90210, and most recently the now-cancelled Fox series Minority Report.

So, what do you think of the addition to the cast?  Does Zano fit the bill of Citizen Steel? Are you excited for the new faces that are going to be introduced on Legends of Tomorrow season two?
