Celine Dion Presented with Billboard Music Icon Award By Son
The Billboard Music Awards presented Celine Dion with the prestigious Icon Award Sunday night, joining the ranks of past winners Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Prince and Jennifer Lopez.
The award came after she performed a beautiful cover of Queen’s “The Show Must Go On”, a song her late husband Rene Angelil loved her to sing due to it’s inspiring message.
Rene, who was also her manager throughout her entire career, passed away in January after a long battle with cancer, leaving behind Celine as well as their three sons. She has continued performing at her residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas in spite of his death and will do more shows around the world including Paris and Canada this year.
The singer became emotional when she was informed that her eldest son Rene Charles would be presenting her with the award. When she regained her composure she simply asked him “Would you just stand next to me?” as she began her speech.
She thanked her fans, friends, family and Rene.
‘Rene, “This one’s for you. The show must go on.” She concluded, fighting back tears.
We are HUGE fans of Celine here at Fan Fest, and wish her a big congratulations and send her all our love!
