Caity Lotz Talks Relationships and Legends of Tomorrow Season Two

During The CW Upfronts this past Thursday, TV Line talks with Legends of Tomorrow star Caity Lotz about Sara’s relationships this season and the future of the show.

When asked about the death of Captain Cold, Lotz says that she “hated it.” It was an incredibly emotional moment and one that I for sure did not see coming. Sara and Snart’s relationship was really organic and that made the end so much more heartbreaking.

And it only got worse when the next episode Sara found out about her sister’s death. Lotz absolutely killed it during the entire first season, but those two episodes especially. “I really wanted to do it justice,” Lotz says when asked if she was looking forward to the scene where Sara learns of Laurel’s passing. She knows how much this would affect Sara as Laurel was such a huge part of her life. Laurel went through so much to bring Sara back to life and Sara would do the same for her. “I didn’t want it to be true. And now it’s true,” said Lotz. We didn’t want it to be true either.

When asked about her other favorite dynamic on the show, Lotz spoke about how Sara and Rip have an interesting relationship and are like bickering siblings, which is the perfect description for them. The beginning of the season, they were close and trusted each other, but following the reveal that Rip knew Laurel would die, all that trust is gone. It will be interesting to see how their dynamic changes during the second season. Sara will probably challenge his authority moving forward, which would probably be a good thing. The team blindly followed Rip throughout most of the first season, but now that they have come into their own, we should expect to see a more unified, functioning collective in season two.

As far as season two is concerned, Lotz is excited for what’s to come. “From what I hear, it’s going to be very different,” she said. “They said they really want to shake things up and we’re going to have some new faces as well.” With the appearance of Rex Tyler, aka Hourman, in the last scene of the finale, it was inevitable that there were going to be some new face on the show as he mentions the Justice Society of America. Who will be joining the roster? Unfortunately, we will have to wait until Legends of Tomorrow returns in the fall.
