‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ Receives R Rating.
EW reports that the straight to video animated feature Batman: The Killing Joke has received an R rating. Though some of the straight to video DC movies have been a little brutal, (I am looking at you Flash Point Paradox) this marks the first animated title to receive the R rating. It is only the second DC property to ever receive the rating, the first being the extended directors cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The movie is based of the brutal genre defining comic by Alan Moore that was released in 1988. It is perhaps one of the most graphic Batman comics I have ever read. The team from Batman the Animated Series is coming back to make this movie which everyone is pretty excited about. Kevin Conroy is returning to voice the beloved Dark Knight, if you grew up on the
90’s the who is your Batman debate isn’t even a question, it is Kevin Conroy always! Mark Hamill will also be returning as the
Joker.
Batman: The Killing Joke will make its debut at SDCC this year with a digital/dvd/Blu-ray release to follow.
