In honor of Fathers Day, I have combined a list of 15 Dad’s that have certainly left an impression from various television series. I would like to take this moment to wish a very happy Father’s Day to all of our dads out there, and all of our soon to be fathers!
15. Malcolm Merlyn (Arrow)
Malcolm is undoubtedly evil, but despite all of Malcolm’s faults one thing we know for sure is that he loves his daughter Thea with all of his heart. However little of it may remain.
14. Jack Bauer (24)
There is really nothing NOT to love about Jack Bauer. Not only is he pretty badass, but he is also extremely protective over his daughter and would go to great lengths to keep her from harm.
13. Tim Taylor (Home Improvement)
He may not have been the world’s most stellar handyman, but one we know for sure is that he loved those three kids with all of his heart.
12. Phillip Banks (Fresh Prince of Bel Air)
Even though Phillip tends to lose his temper fairly quickly, he means well deep down, and he loves and cares deeply about his profession and family.
11. Lord Eddard “Ned” Stark
Despite his faults, Ned was a dedicated husband, a loving father, a loyal friend and an honorable lord.
10. Phil Dunphy (Modern Family)
When Life gives you lemonade, make lemons… life be all like whaaaaat? Phil has, without a doubt, one of the most hilarious styles of parenting on television.
9. John Winchester (Supernatural)
You may now know him as a stone-cold killer on The Walking Dead, but prior to that Jeffery Dean Morgan played John Winchester on Supernatural. He trained his sons to not be afraid of the darkness, and sacrificed his own life to ensure that his son would be safe.
8. Jonathan Kent (Smallville)
Jonathan is the one who encouraged Clark to use his powers to save humanity. So, pretty much, if Jon had never told Clark to go forward…the world probably would not be existing right now.
7. Niklaus Mikaelson (The Originals)
There’s no evil witch, coven or evil that he would not fight to keep his precious daughter safe from harm.
6. Henry Spencer (Psych)
Although the two of them were frequently seen butting heads, Shawn is the most precious thing in Henry’s life. Henry played right along with Shawn’s little ‘psychic’ excursion, and even assisted him on a few cases to ensure that he got the job done. Henry occasionally came off as a hard ass, but that was only because he was pushing Shawn to be the best that he could be.
5. Danny Reagan (Blue Bloods)
There is no drug dealer, gang leader, or dirty cop that Danny would not face off with to protect his family. His family is the most precious thing in the world to him, despite what people may think because he dedicates so many hours to the streets of New York.
4. Uncle Jesse (Dukes of Hazzard)
Even though he was not technically their ‘dad’, Uncle Jesse raised Bo, Luke and Daisy like they were one of his own. He taught them all about respect and honor, and he loved them with all of his heart.
3. Joe West (The Flash)
Not only has Joe always been there for Iris (even when it didn’t always appear that way), Joe also opened up his heart and home to Barry when Barry’s father was taken away. Joe recently welcomed Wally into his heart, home and arms. There is no limit to the amount of love that Joe gives to all of his ‘children’.
2. Rick Grimes (The Walking Dead)
Rick will do absolutely whatever it takes to ensure the safety of both Judith and Carl. From slicing up walkers to biting out the throat of a man who attempted to rape Carl; Rick always has been and always will make his children his number one priority.
1. Oliver Queen (Arrow)
Until recently, Oliver did not even know that William existed. After William was kidnapped by the diabolical Damien Darhk, Oliver went to extreme measures to rescue him. Following the rescue mission, Oliver sent William away with his mother so that they would be safe from Damien Darhk’s clutches. It was clearly one of the hardest things that Oliver had to do, but he knew keeping William close by would only be selfish. If you missed it, check out the beautiful, heart-breaking message that Oliver left for William below:
