In what I’m declaring the most delightful news of the week, Variety reports that This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown and Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood are in talks to lend their voices to Disney’s highly anticipated Frozen sequel!
Frozen 2 will find Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Josh Gad all returning to reprise their characters and will once again be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck with Lee writing the script. Even though the plot and their potential characters are still being kept under wraps, we think that Brown and Wood would make excellent additions to the already talented voice cast.
It’s hard to believe that Frozen came out nearly five years ago, but alas, the first film came out in 2013 and was an uber success for Disney. It earned over $1 billion at the box office worldwide, dominated the music charts and merchandise realm, and took home 2014 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for Menzel’s iconic ballad “Let it Go”. The film was also adapted for Broadway, where it featured all of the fan-favorite songs from the original plus new ones that fans are absolutely loving! It was nominated for three Tony Awards this year.
Sterling K. Brown and Evan Rachel Wood are both on top of their games right now in Hollywood. The two of them are starring in some of the best series on TV with Brown appearing on NBC’s This Is Us and Wood appearing on HBO’s Westworld. The two recently received Emmy nominations for their work in the leading categories, an award that Brown took home last year.
Frozen 2 is expected to hit theaters next year on Nov. 27, 2019.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
