‘Whiskey Cavalier’ Canceled at ABC After One Season
Well, it looks like we have to pour one out for Whiskey Cavalier. ABC has decided to cancel the Lauren Cohan/Scott Foley dramedy after just one season, in what was deemed a “tough” last-second decision for the network.
[row]“It was a tough decision, it was the last decision we made. We thought we gave it a very strong launch in spring. But we lost audience. We felt the biggest opportunity was to try something new. We looked for other time slots but did not see a real opportunity to grow,” said Karey Burke, ABC Entertainment president, at Disney’s upfront press conference.[/row]
The series was definitely ABC’s shining star during the midseasons, receiving plenty of marketing love at San Diego Comic-Con as well as the coveted post-Oscar time slot back in January. While Whiskey Cavalier did premiere to strong numbers, the series had trouble maintaining them throughout the season.
Walking Dead alum Lauren Cohan posted an emotional message to fans on Twitter following the news. Her role on Whiskey Cavalier is ultimately what led her to depart the AMC zombie drama after seven years, so many fans are left wondering just want this turn of events could mean for her future on The Walking Dead.
Dear @WhiskeyCav Fans, I had so much fun with you guys on our #WhiskeyWednesday tweet parties… I truly appreciate the love and support you’ve given us.
And to our amazing cast and crew, thank you for bringing this show to life! I love you guys so, so much. – LC ❤️

Her co-star Scott Foley (Scandal) also posted a video to Instagram alongside his wife, Marika Dominczyk, who had been guest-starring on the series.

Thanks to all who watched and enjoyed and believed in our show. RIP #whiskeycavalier
Whiskey Cavalier followed tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (code name: “Whiskey Cavalier” played by Foley) who was assigned to work with badass CIA operative Frankie Trowbridge (code name: “Fiery Tribune” played by Cohan). Together, they had to find a way to work together alongside an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world – and each other – while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance, and office politics.
Are you sad to hear about Whiskey Cavalier’s cancellation? Do you hope that Cohan returns to The Walking Dead?
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
