‘This Is Us’ Star Chrissy Metz Lands Her First Feature Film Starring Role in ‘The Impossible’

This Is Us star Chrissy Metz is making the jump from small screen to the big screen.  The actress has landed her first starring role in a feature film called The Impossible from Fox 2000.

The film is an adaptation based on Joyce Smith’s novel The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection.  The novel and the film tell the incredible true events which occurred after Joyce’s 14-year-old son fell through the ice of a frozen lake in Missouri.  Her son John was proclaimed lifeless for over an hour but Joyce never gave up hope.  Through prayer and faith, she stayed by her son’s side until miraculously, his heart began beating again.

Metz will play the role of Joyce in the film.

Roxann Dawson (The Americans) is set to direct with the script being penned by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) and produced by DeVon Franklin (Miracles From Heaven).
