I hope that when people come to Star Wars Galay’s Edge, and experience it for the first time, that this place they are walking through, and the characters, beasts, aliens and droids, put them in a position to give themselves over to the story and play with us.

Disney bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas for $4 billion in 2012, and since then, this new land was in the plans for Hollywood Studios’ expansion, along with Toy Story Land, which opened this summer. Disney’s first matter of business was Star Was: The Force Awakens, setting up the scene for its next three films, and then came this land.

The land was announced in 2015, and it promised a fully immersive Star Wars experience. It was set to be ten times what 1987’s Star Tours is in the land currently. The land will allow guests to fly a real life suzed Millennium Falcon, look up at life sized AT-ATs, and explore a detailed planet called Batuu.

Galaxy’s Edge will include a luxury resort that transports families into space for a full immersive stay, and several themed restaurants. Stores will be chock full of Star Wars merch and brand new toys too.

It will be one of the most elaborate lands to open in recent years.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in summer 2019 at Disneyland Resort and late fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort.
