Showtime Series About Roger Ailes Adds Seth MacFarlane, Sienna Miller

Seth MacFarlane, Sienna Miller, Simon McBurney, and Annabelle Wallis are now part of Showtime’s eight-episode series which primarily focuses on former head of Fox News, Roger Ailes. Russell Crowe is slated to play Ailes during the last ten years of his life. During this time, Fox News was marking their spot in cable news wars, and he was facing several sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior accusations.

The star studded cast also includes Naomi Watts as Gretchen Carlson, a former anchor who ended up suing Ailes in 2016 for such accusations. Ailes resigned from the network because soon after Gretchen filed a lawsuit, more claims came knocking at his door.

The miniseries is based on The Loudest Voice in the Room, a book about Ailes by Gabriel Sherman, and follows him until he resigns from the network.

The role of Ailes’ wife will be played by Sienna Miller. She was editor of a small paper in Garrisoin New York, and raised their son Zachary. She defended her husband until his death in 2017. She still defends him to this day.

MacFarlane (Family Guy and The Orville) will play Brian Lewis, Ailes’ confidant who was fired from his job at Fox as the head of public relations for breach of contract in 2013.

McBurney will play media mogul Rupert Murdoch who was Ailes’ employer. Wallis (Peaky Blinders) will play volunteer at Fox, Laurie Luhn. She became involved with Ailes as well.

The first episode was written by Sherman and Tom McCarthy, who is also an executive producer alongside Crowe, Jason Blum, Alex Metcalf, Blumhouse’s Marci Wiseman, and Jeremy Gold and Liza Chasin.

The series will air on Showtime.
