Ryan Hansen Returning for ‘Veronica Mars’ Miniseries

You can’t have Veronica Mars without Dick Casablancas and thankfully we won’t have to! Ryan Hansen has officially boarded Hulu’s upcoming Veronica Mars miniseries, TVLine has confirmed.

Hansen played the womanizing Dick Casablancas throughout the series’ three-season run. As Logan Echoll’s best friend he was often an outlier in the first season, but as the show grew so did Dick’s role where he eventually became a fan-favorite character. Hansen reprised the role in 2014 for the Veronica Mars movie as well in 2015 for Play It Again, Dick which ran on The CW Seed for one season.

He joins a long list of Veronica Mars favorites who are returning for the eight-episode revival including Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars),  Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Francis Capra (Weevil) and David Starzyk (Richard Casablancas). Creator Rob Thomas will also be returning.

Here is the official synopsis of the series:

[row]“Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into a mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”[/row]

Prior to Veronica Mars, Hansen was known for his role on the beloved yet short-lived series Party Down. He is currently starring in his own YouTube series called Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television, which has featured cameos from various Veronica Mars cast members.

The Hulu series is set to begin production at the end of October with plans to premiere sometime in 2019! Are you excited for some more Dick Casablancas? Let us know!
