‘Puyo Puyo Champions’, The Latest Installment of the Renowned Puzzle Series, Now Available on Consoles and Steam
Puyo Puyo Champions, known as Puyo Puyo eSports in Asia where the game has enjoyed great success since its release, has finally hit consoles and Steam in the US. Released on May 7th, 2019, Puyo Puyo Champions can be found on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam for only $9.99.
For those unfamiliar, Puyo Puyo is a puzzle game similar in vein to Tetris but, of course, with its own flair. This iteration focuses on online multiplayer, urging players to compete against others worldwide. While there is a single player component, multiplayer is the star of the show. Unlike Tetris and many other puzzle games, Puyo Puyo Champions features 24 characters to choose from, each with unique abilities to use during play.

According to Sega, who is releasing the game, Puyo Puyo Champions features:
- The Preferred Way to Play – With a strong focus on global online competitive multiplayer, Puyo Puyo Champions is based on the fan-favorite rulesets of Puyo Puyo 2 (Tsu) and Puyo Puyo Fever. This includes the popular “Fever Mode” where you crush your opponents with ready-made chains!
- Tournament Mode – Duke it out for bragging rights in the brand-new, eight-player Tournament mode that lets your scratch that competitive itch locally with friends and family.
- Improved Replay System – Pull off a devastating chain combo? Alongside auto-saved replays, Battle History provides a visual timeline of the biggest moments of a game with timestamps, so you never have to worry about missing a thing.
- Dual Audio – Players have the option to enjoy Puyo Puyo Champions with the original Japanese voice acting and either English, French, German, or Spanish text.
