Paul Feig Weighs in on The Possibility of a ‘Bridesmaids’ Sequel
It’s been over seven years since the brilliant comedy Bridesmaids hit the scene and ever since witnessing their hilarious debauchery and antics we have just been hankering for a sequel. Starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, Ellie Kemper, and Wendi McLendon-Covey the film followed a group of bridesmaids as two of them enter a heated competition to be the bride’s better friend.
Director Paul Feig, who has since gone on to direct McCarthy in Spy, The Heat, and Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, is gearing up for his next film A Simple Favor starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, which hits theaters this weekend. While attending the premiere at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Monday, Feig took some time to talk about whether he plans on partying with Annie and the Gang again in a sequel.

Yes, we do! Yes, we do!
While its refreshing to hear that Feig doesn’t want to revisit the movie without a good and believable story, the movie was still a huge financial and critical success for Universal Pictures – something that would surely be repeated should the cast and creators ever return. Produced by Judd Apatow, Bridesmaids earned an impressive $26 million in its opening weekend, eventually earning over $280 million worldwide. It was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and later went on to receive two Academy Award nominations including Best Supporting Actress for Melissa McCarthy and Best Original Screenplay.

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
