Norman Reedus Dishes on His Favorite Storyline Still to Come on ‘The Walking Dead’s Season 8

While most fans of The Walking Dead are focused on the gloom and doom surrounding Carl Grimes’ fate, Norman Reedus is here to give us something positive to look forward too as the series continues on past the midseason premiere.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reedus revealed that his favorite storyline within the series is about to take place.  He’s referring to his character, Daryl Dixon’s relationship with everyone’s favorite troublemaker, Dwight (played by Austin Amelio).  It’s been a rocky road for the two characters, to say the least, but Reedus says that how these two interact going forward is hands down his favorite storyline.  Reedus said:

“That’s my favorite storyline going forward.  They’re both right. You know what I mean?  One just knows how to deal with it a little better. The other one is scared. Daryl’s not scared. Dwight’s scared and he makes decisions based on fear, but he’s trying to do the right thing. It seems like it. So you can’t really hate on him. We all do horrible things in this world and Dwight did a bunch of crappy stuff and Daryl gets it, and Daryl knows that Dwight’s operating from a place of fear. Not to give anything away, but I’m very happy with that storyline going forward.”

While it clearly sounds like Daryl and Dwight might be working towards an amicable relationship (maybe even a friendship), Reedus was quick to follow up with some more intel shooting down that theory.  He said,

“I wouldn’t say that.  I don’t think he ever fully accepts Dwight, but he gets it. He gets where he’s coming from, but he doesn’t like him. They don’t like each other. I think one person’s trying to hang out and the other person’s like, ‘Stay the f— away from me.’ You know what I mean? It’s like that whole thing of the snake biting the guy. He’s like, ‘Well, you know I’m a snake.’ It’s kind of like that a little bit.”

It’s safe to say, we won’t be seeing Dwight replacing Rick on any best buds supply run road trips anytime soon but, we’re excited to see what the future storylines hold for these two when The Walking Dead returns on February 25th on AMC!
