Michael Rooker Takes a Snooze in this Hilarious 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2' Blooper

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 is a film which takes its audience through a true rollercoaster of emotions.  From happy and heartwarming to hysterically funny to sad and heartbreaking, this film has it all.  One of the most emotional scenes of the entire film comes at the end after Yondu (Michael Rooker) sacrifices himself to save Peter Quill (Chris Pratt).  After that heart-wrenching scene takes place, things get even more emotional as Quill delivers a touching eulogy for his fallen adoptive father just before an impressive display takes place granting Yondu a true Ravager’s funeral send-off.

As you can imagine, that the scene was not an easy one to shoot since saying goodbye to a beloved character is always difficult.  It’s even more difficult to shoot when that deceased beloved character is snoring!

A hilarious blooper clip shared to social media by James Gunn shows the Guardians gang including Quill (Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) who are all standing over the newly deceased body of Yondu (Rooker).  After Pratt delivers his speech, the rest of the Guardians begin to gather when the set mics pick up the sound of Rooker snoozing and snoring away!  Apparently, Rooker had fallen asleep several times during the filming of this scene and one of those instances made it to the blooper reel.

In the clip, Bautista is the first to notice Rooker’s dozing and he alerts the rest of the cast as well holding back a giggle and a smile.  As Kelmenteiff approaches, she gently taps Rooker to wake him before moving forward with the next part of the scene.

Gunn assures his followers that this was not a staged gag and had even made reference to the scene and Rookers’ snoozing previously during a Facebook Q&A.  Rooker himself has also commented on his mid-scene nap telling TMZ, “I fell asleep each take.  I can fall asleep anywhere.  It was a very relaxed environment.  The lights were low.  They had candles going.  It was almost romantic.”

We love these behind-the-scenes clips and, if we’re being honest, given the relaxing environment, we probably would have fallen asleep too!  Check out a very sleepy Michael Rooker in the blooper scene below:
