Kevin Feige Reveals When He Told Marvel The Title For “Avengers 4”

Remember when fans were agonizing over the title of Avengers 4? and do you remember how many different titles were spread across the internet?

The answer is many. Some particular highlights were “Annihilation”, “Secret War”, “Try me Beyonce” and my personal favourite, “Hawkeye Defeated Thanos”.

But alas, the title was revealed as Avengers: Endgame. After the Russo’s announced that the title had been said in a previous film, Age of Ultron, everyone put their money on “Annihilation” after Wanda says it to Vision. In actual fact it was “Endgame” which was first mentioned by Tony Stark in Age of Ultron and then again by Doctor Strange in Infinity War.

After all the secrecy and teases, the question is, when did Marvel actually know about the title?

Kevin Fiege, Marvel Studios head, confirmed the exact moment the studio knew the title for the upcoming sequel.

At the Golden Globes, Feige revealed that “Endgame” was confirmed around the same time the studio started developing Avengers 4.

Feige says:

“It was in place before we started developing the movie”

Then adds:

“Or just as we were developing it, yes.”

The interesting thing about this is that Endgame and Infinity War were shot back-to-back. Meaning that the title was decided well before Infinity War‘s release. Imagine keeping a secret that big.

This also means that the “Endgame” quote was thrown into Infinity War simply because they knew the title. You can check out the clip from the red carpet below.

Kevin Fiege also adds that we won’t be getting a lot of footage from any additional trailers and marketing. He claims that footage in marketing videos will only include footage from the first 15 minutes of the movie, which is minuscule in comparison to the apparent length of the film which could be over 3 hours (bring it on Feige).

So now that we are in the Endgame, are you emotionally prepared to witness the end of an era?

Endgame will deal with the fallout following Thanos’ dreaded snap, which wiped out half of the universe. As he sits and enjoys the view with a smile on his face, we’ll watch the heroes, the ones that remain, come to terms with what has just happened. But even after the first trailer, we have more questions than we do answers…

How will they stop Thanos? is Ant-man really the key? Who is going to rescue Tony? and more importantly, why did Captain America shave his magnificen- Sorry, I got carried away.

Avengers: Endgame is in cinema on April 26th. Check out the trailer below.
