‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ Sequel Gets a Release Date

The game is not over yet for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and the cast of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Just one week ago, Johnson announced that a sequel to the 2017 box office hit was officially underway, and now we know when the sequel to the sequel will be making its theatrical debut.

Johnson posted to his Instagram account (his social media platform of choice for making big announcements) on Wednesday with a brief teaser video leading up to the big date reveal. The video features the familiar Jumanji font as well as the ominous tribal drums that the game uses to lure in its next set of players.

Along with the video, Johnson posted a caption saying, “Officially planting our JUMANJI flag. On DECEMBER 13th, 2019 – the game is not over. I hold JUMANJI very close to my heart and I’m beyond grateful you made our movie into the global juggernaut ($1BILLION+) it became. Can’t wait for you to see what our new adventure & new characters have in store as Christmas comes early. And once again, I get to slap @kevinhart4real’s lip’s into next week. The world is happy. #FearTheDrums #TheGameIsNotOver #JUMANJI DECEMBER 13th, 2019”

The sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will reunite Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan who will be reprising their roles from the previous film.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released into theaters late last year and was a surprising box office hit. Audiences and fans loved the fun adventure of the film combined with the nostalgic touches and tributes to the original 1995 classic film Jumanji.

The sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will be stampeding into theaters on December 13, 2019.
